Project Portfolio Management: Project Selection

Introduction

IT outsourcing is a growing industry. It allows industries to focus on their core business while specialized companies manage their IT infrastructure, operations and application development. This strategy has been deployed with success in a large number of organizations around the world allowing both sides of the partnership to grow. IT is thus deployed as a service.

Procurement

Overview

D-Sight provides buyers an easy way to evaluate and compare products or services, hence helping them cut down the tenders’ evaluation process time. Through an intuitive and dedicated interface, the buyer can easily specify evaluation criteria and visually assess which product or service corresponds best to his initial requirements. Gap analysis has never been so straightforward.

Preference Modeling

Introduction

Basing a decision process on raw data can distort its result. Indeed, different aspects can influence the calculation such as:

  • the units;
  • the range of the values;
  • the spread of the values;
  • ...

Furthermore, the way these data are perceived may be different for each decision maker. That's why using methods based on raw data only, such as the weighted sum for instance, can be inefficient when considering complex problems.

Pairwise Comparisons

Defining Preference

When making pairwise comparisons, the alternatives are not directly scored according to their performance. They are compared to the other alternatives, in pairs. In the PROMETHEE methodology, "preference functions" are used to compare alternatives. This is part of the preference modeling. There are different shapes that are proposed in the model.

General D-Sight Methodology

Enrich Data

D-Sight offers you the possibility to enrich the data of your multi-criteria problem by taking into account how you want to evaluate the alternatives for each criterion.

Working with raw data is rarely meaningful and is, most of the time, not efficient.

Criteria Hierarchy

Organize Your Evaluation Criteria

The criteria hierarchy allows you to define how your evaluation criteria are organized. You can simply create a category to gather criteria or other categories into it.

The complete structure can be graphically created by drag and dropping elements in the tree as shown on the picture below. In addition, it is easy to specify the weight for each category and each criteria.
