This article will briefly explain you how to use the Parameters in D-Sight. To display the parameters table, click on the Parameters tab in the main window. If you don't find it, go to the menu Model and click on Parameters.
Let's say that we have three criteria: price, power and consumption. Now let's look at the two first column of the table :
- Criteria : the criteria you have defined
- Function Type : choose if you want the alternatives to be pairwise compared or to be scored with a utility function. In other words, this allows you to choose if you want to use the PROMETHEE method or the Utility based method.
Pair Wise
In pairwise mode, you have to specify if you want to maximize or minimize the criterion. After this, you can choose the preference function to be used.
Clicking on "?Help me?" gives you a list with all the pictures of the corresponding function. Click on the list to show the different images.
The two last cases are respectively the indifference and the preference thresholds.
Let's click on Utility for the second criterion (continue to the right column).
Utility
First you can choose the range of the data you want to work with. Secondly, you can specify the general shape of your utility curve. Once it is done, click on next.
Then you can simply define your utility function by left clicking on the chart to add some points. To move an existing point, click on it and drag the mouse. To delete a point, right click on it. Once you are done, click on save to come back on the parameters table.
