Interactive Plane

D-Sight uses a methodology that allows representing and interacting with the results easily. This provides the decision maker with additional information about how the different alternatives can be compared together and how the different criteria are discriminating the alternatives.

The graphical representation of the result is called the GAIA plane. It is illustrated in the different images in this page. The plane contains a projection of the different alternatives (as point) and the criteria (as axes). In addition, the red axis represents the decision axis.

The red axis is called the decision stick and represents a visualization of the final solution of the problem. Its position is determined by the preferences of the decision-maker. The further an alternative's projection goes on the axis, the better it is.

Axes in the graph represents criteria or group of criteria. The longer an axis is, the more discriminating it is. It means that a long axis will, in average, differentiate strongly the alternatives while a short axis, on the other hand, will have a smaller role in differentiating them.

Having this visual representation of the problem allows decision makers to understand easily where the ranking results are coming from. In addition, it provides an easy way to see which alternatives are pretty similar to each other. Indeed if alternatives are grouped on the plane - forming a cluster - the decision maker can then foresee that their ranking on each criteria are closed from one another.
